What is SPEC BLK?
SPEC BLK is a creator ecosystem and professional convening centered on Black speculative storytelling across publishing, film, television, gaming, and emerging media.
Built as both a convening and long-term ecosystem, SPEC BLK exists to cultivate visibility, infrastructure, adaptation opportunities, professional development, and sustainable pathways for Black storytellers and creative professionals.
The inaugural convening will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on November 7–8, 2026.
What can attendees expect?

SPEC BLK is intentionally designed to bridge storytelling and industry access while centering Black imagination, innovation, and future-building.
Has the venue been announced yet?
Not yet.
The official venue announcement will be shared publicly once contracts are finalized. The convening will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, and additional information regarding accommodations, accessibility, parking, and surrounding experiences will be released in future updates.
Have featured guests or panelists been announced?
Not at this time.
Calls for featured guests, moderators, panelists, programming participants, and ecosystem collaborators are currently underway. Official announcements will be made progressively throughout the year.
SPEC BLK is intentionally building programming with care and alignment rather than rushing announcements prematurely.

What does the Early Bird ticket include?
The Early Bird Pass includes:
Full two-day convening access
Access to panels and programming
Marketplace access
Networking opportunities
Access to the Page to Screen Showcase
Future ecosystem updates and announcements
Are tickets refundable?
Early Bird ticket purchases are non-refundable.
However, tickets may be transferred to another attendee up to 14 days prior to the event by contacting the SPEC BLK team.
In the event that SPEC BLK is canceled by organizers, ticket holders will receive the option of either:
a full refund, or
credit toward a future SPEC BLK convening or ecosystem initiative.
Will there be additional events and programming announced later?
Yes.
SPEC BLK is being developed as a year-round ecosystem, and additional programming, partnerships, marketplace opportunities, professional development initiatives, and ecosystem activations will continue to be announced as development progresses.
